Music albums may be provided as big file that contains all tracks and these tracks are described in a cue-sheet file. It is text file that points to track begins and contains song info (metadata).
Audiophile FLAC CUE splitter AuI ConverteR 48x44 [Mac, Windows] cut big audio files with 1 sample precision by *.cue index (musical albums) to separate files (tracks) .flac, .mp3, .wav, .dsf and other. Big files WAV, DSF, DFF, APE, WavePack (.wv), mp3 are supported too. Metadata (song information) from *.cue are exported to target files. AuI ConverteR is able to manually assign album artwork to target files. Bit-perfect splitting (without quality losses) is available for lossless to lossless file conversion.
How to split FLAC CUE
To split FLAC CUE musical album into several tracks [audio files] with 1 sample precision:
- Launch AuI ConverteR software
- In the main window, push Open files button and select only CUE file (don't select FLAC file).
- For splitting FLAC by CUE's time scores in bit-perfect mode (binary content of source and target files is identical, no quality losses):
Select lossless target PCM format (FLAC, WAV, AIFF), sample rate and bit depth identical input file or set "as input"

Tips
- When you open directory with *.cue file, AuI ConverteR automatically add CUE-sheet file into input-file list. Other audio files from .cue's directory are not added (in the latest versions).
- If you open audio file in a directory, use Open files button and select only audio file(s) (not *.cue). If you select file and cue, cue will be added only.

Sound quality
Bit perfect splitting
Bit-perfect splitting means output files have the binary content same as well as the input files. And in doing so, such splitting doesn't cause losses.
Processing that causes losses:
- resampling;
- lossless file (WAV, FLAC, DSF) is converted to lossy (mp3, AAC, etc.);
- DSD files are converted to PCM or back.
For AuI ConverteR, if bit depth is increased, there are no quality losses. Examples: 16 to 24 or 32 bit, 24 to 32 bit)

Accurate split with 1 sample precision
Decoding and reencoding of FLAC files are lossless actions.
But, without decoding and reencoding, FLAC file may be split into frames. Here, the frame is a block of samples.
The frame may include data from neighbor tracks simultaneously.
It can cause the placement of fragment of the next track to the end of file with the previous track.
To avoid the issue, AuI ConverteR splits files by marks into cue-file with precision 1 sample (exact track border) without quality losses.
When mp3 (or other lossy) audio file is split to mp3 (or other lossy), to split with 1 sample precision there is re-encoding is required. And target files have some losses шт comparison with original stuff. Are the losses audible or not, we can't say exactly.
Splitting per 1 sample may be more desirable, when splitting per audio data block causes sound penetration of the next track's begin to the end of the previous track.

Splitting artefact elimination
To minimize splitting artefacts, in the main window of AuI ConverteR > Parameters tab, True Gapless Mode switch should be checked (if available in your configuration)
In Settings window, Don't make DSP... switch should be checked.
In True Gapless Mode files are processed sequentially. It's defined by the necessity of connecting neighbor files borders.
Free version inserts two-second pauses into 2nd and next tracks.

Troubleshooting
What is a cue file flac?
Here, we can discuss pair of files:
- big FLAC file;
- .cue [cue-sheet] file with time scores inside this FLAC file.
These scores mark borders between tracks, including pauses. Also, the cue-sheet file contains track name, performer and other metadata, that are displayed by an audio player software.
Codecs
As rule, .cue and .flac files should have similar file names. Otherwise, AuI ConverteR try to find an appropriate big audio file automatically.
Warning: In version earlier 9.2, before CUE + other than FLAC, WAV, AIFF, DSF file, open this file type directly to auto downloading and installing of codec.
Wrong symbols in converted files
If converted files contain wrong symbols in:
- text metadata (album, performer, track name, etc.) or
- file name,
in Settings > Metadata, select a proper value in "CUE file encoding" list ("Local" is default value).
